First death anniversary of Kalam

In memory of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam on his first death anniversary, our school started assembly with 2 minutes silence to pay our respect to our Hero.Then the life history of him is read and followed by a poem about kalam in Tamil.

On this day, last year, APJ Abdul Kalam was delivering a lecture at the IIM-Shillong when he collapsed and died in a hospital shortly afterwards. On this day, we remember the People's President and his exemplary life. Here are a few lesser known facts about him:

1.

Muslim by religion, he was a secularist at heart. Kalam used to read both Quran and Bhagvad Gita.

2.

He never owned a television. His personal possessions included his books, a veena, some articles of clothing, a CD player and a laptop.

3.

Wheeler Island, a national missile test site in the state of Odisha, was renamed Abdul Kalam Island in September 2015.

4.

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, also known as the People's President and our Missile Man, won Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and the highest civilian award — Bharat Ratna. ​ Recipient of honorary doctorates from 40 universities worldwide, Kalam has also authored around 15 books.

After graduating from Madras Institute of Technology in aeronautical engineering, he started working with DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization). He designed helicopters for the Indian Army.

He worked under country's most renowned space scientist Vikram Sarabhai. Kalam also visited NASA in the year 1963 after which he went on to develop Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and SLV-III projects, both of which proved to be successful.

He played an instrumental role in the Pokhran-II nuclear tests and emerged as the leading nuclear scientist of the nation

He was the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister from 1992-1999. The Pokhran-II nuclear tests were conducted during this period in which he played an intensive political and technological role.

Kalam acted on only one mercy plea in his five-year tenure as president.

One of India's best known scientists, Kalam was full of ideas on how to solve India's problems such as bridging the rural-urban divide through his pet concept of PURA (Providing Urban amenities in Rural Areas) — for empowering villages — and also to use solar power in a big way to tide over India's energy needs.

Kalam had drawn up an elaborate plan to power Rashtrapati Bhavan with solar power, but his term ended before he could implement it. He believed that besides solar, India should also go in for nuclear energy and also biofuels from jatropha plant and algae.

He was the man behind the operationalization of AGNI and PRITHVI missiles

13.

He was the first vegetarian bachelor to occupy the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

14.

In the end, Kalam would be remembered as a commoner who demystified the rarefied ramparts of Rashtrapati Bhavan. A man whose love of children, his close interactions with them at functions, and his exertions that they take up science research, contrasted starkly with the 'ceremonial', 'uptight' souls who came before him.

STREET ART

Street art is any art developed in public spaces. The term can include traditional graffiti art work, as well as, stencil graffiti, sticker art, wheatpasting and street poster art, video projection, art intervention, guerrilla art, flash mobbing and street installations.

To showcase the creativity in children on 29.10.2015, Street art on the topic "Heritage and Culture", the children from each class brought out their innate talent through charts and skit (தெருக்  கூத்து) with messages. Participation from middle school to higher secondary showed that team work and enthusiasm culminated with the presence of mind was a feast to the eyes at our school premises.

• Articles on Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam by the students show their involvement.  
• Our Principal shared the happy moment of his personal experience of having met this honorable man face to face years ago. This humble and simple man with silver tongue enthralled the fledglings in science by citing examples from day to day life. 
• It coincided with showing examples of achievers an instance at our school where S. Vijay Prabu of Std XII  won a cash amount of Rs.10000/- by displaying a project at Easwari Engineering college on 14.10.2015 entitled " How to save fuel while producing Hydrogen ".
• Every individuals prime duty is to make India a Developed Nation by 2020 as dreamt by Dr.Abdul Kalam was our Principal's view. May we all raise up to the occasion.

ஆண்டு விழா 2015

                             சென்னை மேற்கு மாம்பலம் - எஸ்.ஆர்.எம். நைட்டிங்கேல் பள்ளியின் 47-ஆவது ஆண்டு விழா தி. நகர் கிருஷ்ண கான சபாவில் மாலை 4.00 மணி அளவில் திரு.நடராஜ்-முன்னாள் காவல் துறை ஆணையர் அவர்கள் தலைமை வகிக்க, புலவர் மா.இராமலிங்கம் அவர்கள் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராகப் பங்கேற்க, பள்ளித் துணைத் தாளாளர் சி.நிரஞ்சன் மற்றும் பள்ளி அங்கத்தினர்கள் முன்னிலை வகிக்க இனிதே அரங்கேறியது. 

                                        வந்தோரை வரவேற்கும் வண்ணம் வரவேற்புரை பள்ளித் துணை முதல்வர் அவர்களால் நவிலப்பட்டது., மகிழ்விக்க வரவேற்பு நடனம் கடவுளின் திருப்பெயரால் 6, 7, 8 வகுப்பு மாணவர்களின் பங்கேற்புடன் அரங்கேறியது. பின்பு மேடைக்கு அழைக்கப்பட்ட விருந்தினர்கள் கைகளால் குத்து விளக்கேற்றப் பட்ட பின்  நினைவுப் பரிசுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டு கௌரவிக்கப்பட்டார்கள். தலைமை விருந்தினர் தம் உரையில் கல்வியின் பெருமையை முன்னிறுத்தி பேசினார். மாணவர்களுக்கு கல்வி என்பது களவாடப் பட முடியாத ஒன்று என்றும், கேடில் விழுச் செல்வம் கல்வி என்றும் வலியுறுத்தினார். அவர் பள்ளி முதல் மதிப்பெண் எடுத்த மாணவர் என்பதும் மாணவர்களுக்கு முன் மாதிரியை எடுத்துக் காட்டியது. முதுகிற்குப் பின்னால் இருந்து செய்யப்பட வேண்டிய ஒரே காரியம் தட்டிக் கொடுத்தல் மட்டுமே. அதனை மிகச் சரியாகச் செய்யும் வண்ணம் முந்தைய கல்வியாண்டின் தேர்ச்சியில் முதன்மை இடம் வகித்த மாணவ மணிகளுக்கும், 10 மற்றும் 12-ஆவது வகுப்பில் முதன்மை மற்றும் 100% மதிப்பெண் பெற்ற மாணவ மணிகளுக்கும், அதற்குத் முதல் பொறியாய் உதவிய ஆசிரியரர்களுக்கும், சான்றிதழ் மற்றும் பரிசுகள் வழங்கி கௌரவித்தது. 

                                         கையசைவும், காலசைவும், தலையசைவும், அசைவின்றி நிற்றலும் கூட மழலையிடம் அழகு. அம்மழலைகள் மக்களின் மனங்களை அசைத்துப் பார்க்கும் வண்ணம் ஆடிய ஜப்பானிய விசிறி நடனம் அனைவரின் ஏகோபித்த வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றது.  தேசிய அளவில் மக்கள் மனங்களை உலா வரச் செய்யும் வண்ணம் நிகழ்த்தப்பட்ட நடனம் மிகச் சிறப்பாக இருந்தது. அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து நடத்தப்பட்ட ஆங்கில மொழி நாடகம் மாணவர்களின் தனித் திறமையை  கட்டியமிட்டுக் கூறியது. 

                                          அனைத்திற்கும் முத்தாய்ப்பாக மவுன மொழி நாடகமாக பெண் கல்விக்கு ஆதரவாக, பெண் அடிமைக்கு எதிராக  பன்னிரண்டாம் வகுப்பு மாணவர்கள் பாத்திரங்களாக மாறி மேடையில் வசனமின்றி வாழ்ந்து காட்டியது காண்போர் மனங்களை நெகிழ்த்தியது. அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து மேடை ஏறிப் பேசிய புலவர் மா.இராமலிங்கம் அவர்கள் தம் உரைக்கு முதல் நுனியாக எடுத்துப் பேசும் வண்ணம் அம்மௌனப் புரட்சி அமைந்திருந்தது எனலாம். சற்றே சல சலத்த கூட்டத்தை தம் கலகலப்பான நகைச்சுவைப் பேச்சால் காவன ஈர்ப்பு செய்தார்.சிந்திக்கத் தூண்டியது அவரது சிரிப்பான பேச்சு. அவரது சிரி(ற)ப்பான பேச்சின் சில முத்தான சத்தான விசயங்கள் இதோ!

• குழந்தைகள் காரியமே கண்ணானவர்கள் ஜப்பானிய நடனம் ஆடிய குழந்தைகளில் ஒன்று தன் கொண்டை அவிழ்ந்ததைக் கூடக் கண்டு கொள்ளாமல் ஆடியது. 
• பூர்வ ஜென்ம புண்ணியம் என்ற ஒன்று இருந்தால் மட்டுமே பெண் பிள்ளைகளுக்குப் பெற்றோராக இயலும் என்ற அவரின் ஒரு வார்த்தைக்கு அரங்கம் நிறைந்த கரகோஷம் எழும்பியது.
• நல்லப் படிக்கிறவன் நல்லவன், நல்லாப் படிக்க முடியாதவன் ரொம்ப ரொம்ப நல்லவன், ஏன்னா அவனிடமும் ஒரு திறமை இருக்கும், அதை வெளிக் கொணர்வது  பெரும்பாலும் ஆசிரியரே! - என்ற அவரின் பேச்சுகளுக்கு எழுந்த கைத்தட்டலுக்கு அரங்கமே அதிர்ந்தது.  
• எந்த மொழியை வேண்டுமானாலும் கற்றுக் கொள்ளுங்கள். இந்தி கற்றால் இந்தியா முழுதும் சுற்றலாம். ஆங்கிலம் கற்றால் உலகையே சுற்றலாம். எந்த மொழி கற்றாலும் வீட்டுக்குள் வந்தால் அம்மாவை அம்மா என்றும் அப்பாவை அப்பா என்றும் அழையுங்கள். அ என்பது உயிரெழுத்து, ம் என்பது பத்தாவதாக வருகின்ற மெய்யெழுத்து, மா என்பது உயிரும் மெய்யுமாகக் கலந்த உயிர் மெய்யெழுத்து. உயிரைத் தன்னுள் வாங்கி, பத்து மாதங்கள் தம் வயிற்றில் சுமந்து உடலாக்கி, உயிர்மெய்யாக வெளி உலகுக்குத் தரும் தாயை உயிர்ப்பான அம்மா என்று அழைப்பதை விடுத்து, (புதை குழிக்குள் இருக்கும் சவம்)மம்மி அழைப்பதை விட்டு விடக் கூறினார். 
• மாதா, பிதா, குரு தெய்வம் என்பதை ஆழமாக வலியுறுத்தினார். தன் பிள்ளைக் கிறுக்கலையும் கவிதை என எண்ணும் தாய்மையும், இடுப்பிலேற்றி உணவூட்டும் போதே பகிர்ந்துண்ணக் கற்றுக் கொடுக்கும் தாயும்,  தான் காணா உலகை நீயாகிலும் காண் என்று தோளில் சுமக்கும் தந்தையும், இடுப்பிலும் அல்லாமல் தோளிலும் இல்லாமல் சுய காலில் நிற்கக் கற்றுத்தரும் ஆசிரியரும் தெய்வத்திற்குச் சமமென மதிக்க வேண்டும். 
• சீரியல் பார்ப்பதை விடச் சொல்லித் தாய்மார்களுக்கு அவர் விடுத்த வேண்டுகோள் மிக முக்கியமானது. 
• செல்போன் இந்த கால கட்டத்தில் பெரும்பாலானவரை மதி மயக்கியே வைத்துள்ளது. உதாரணத்திற்கு பெண் ஒருவர் தன் போனில் husband1 , husband2 எனத் தன் கணவரின் இரு நம்பர்களை பதிவு செய்து இருப்பது எவ்வளவு அபத்தமான அர்த்தத்தைக் காண்பிக்கிறது என அவர் கூறிய கூற்றிற்கு அரங்கமே குலுங்கியது, சிரிப்பால்.  Tower கிடைக்கவில்லை என டிவி ரிமோட்டை தூக்கிய நபர்களும் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்பது உண்மைதானே. 
• மாணவர்கள் பல நேரங்களில் தவறான பதில் எழுதினாலும், தான் பல நேரங்களில் அதை ரசித்ததாகக் கூறினார். உதாரணத்திற்கு"ராஜா ராம் மோகன் ராய் பற்றி எழுதுக என்ற வினாவிற்கு "அவர்கள் நால்வரும் நல்ல நண்பர்கள் என்ற பதிலை அபத்தமான பதிலென்றாலும் ரசித்ததாகக் கூறினார்.

Annual day 2015

              

SRM NIGHTINGALE MAT.HR.SEC.SCHOOL celebrated its 47^th Annual day on 24^th July 2015 at Krishna gana sabha, T.Nagar, Chennai. The function was presided by the Chief guest Mr.R.Nataraj, Former Director General of Police, Tamilnadu  and guest of honour Pulavar M.Ramalingam.

The function started at 4.00 pm with the welcome dance by the dance club students followed by Japanese fan dance by the tiny tots on the theme “ one world one earth”. The evening was made more colourful with cultural programmes after the principal’s annual report . Important activities of the school were  displayed through TV.

                Mr.R.Nataraj, specified the importance of identifying  unique skill in every child and develop them as per the talent they possess. Pulavar Ramalingam stressed the role of parents and teachers in the individual development through his humorous talk. Audience spell bound with the way pulavar delivered his thought.

                Top scorers of X and XII board examination and centum scorers in each subject were awarded with books, certificates and medals. Teachers were also awarded for their exemplary service.  

                Students gave their performances with grace and got a big round of applause which included the dance of India and mime on Women empowerment.

                Programme ended with Vote of thanks and National anthem.
